Trip 2 - Day 1

Off to the Prom

This weekend we were heading to Wilson’s Prom. It is on the southern most tip of mainland Australia. It was a beautiful drive down to the Prom and took us about 3 hours. We arrives at Forbes which is where we were stayinn unpacked the car at headed straight into the national park.

Our first stop was a tidal river. This place is beautiful it has beach on one side and a river on the other. The tide fills up the river as it comes in and out. We went for a wander around. After much photography we were heading back to th car when we saw a wombat. I was so excited it was so close to us. We watched it scurry around the bush eating grass for ages.

It was then off to squeaky beach. This beach has the whitest sand I have ever seen. The sand squeaks under your feet because the sand is high in silicone. There are also these beautiful red rocks which are so big it crazy. I ended up going for a swim here and it was lovely. Again there was hardly anyone on the beach.

We stopped in for a pizza for dinner and then tried to get to the sandunes for sunset. This was the toughest hardest walk. At the end of the 2.3km trek it is 85 degrees uphill climb to get on the sanddune. It was crazy. It took so long that we missed sunset and had to walk home in the dark. Luckily we packed very good torches.
